FSU enjoys a close partnership with the town of Frostburg, sharing not just the same name but also close connections through history and heritage. Your college experience at FSU includes all the social and recreational activities the town has to offer, as well as access to community involvement, worship and so much more.

Hometown comforts.  Frostburg, Maryland, is a vibrant small town with a population of about 9,000 and a bustling Main Street district. Founded in 1812, Frostburg has maintained a tight sense of community while embracing the cross-cultural interests and entrepreneurial spirit that mark it as a modern college town.

Fun off-campus. The town of Frostburg offers an appealing variety of eateries, from a classic diner to a vegan-friendly coffeehouse, and hosts a collection of unique shops in its Main Street district. You’ll find popular hangouts, music venues, scenic parks and more within easy walking distance of campus.

Explore history. Once a tiny coal town, Frostburg has grown into a cultural and educational hot spot in Western Maryland. Fun bits of history are everywhere – you just have to look! We recommend you start at the Frostburg Museum.

Need work? Many of Frostburg’s local businesses look for interns and employees from FSU’s student body. Keep an eye open to see if your favorite off-campus hangout is hiring.

Time for worship. Frostburg has 18 churches representing many denominations, including Baptist, Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian and Seventh-Day Adventist.

Go farther. Frostburg is never far from exciting events. Besides having easy access to regional festivals and concerts, you can find yourself in Pittsburgh, Baltimore or Washington, D.C. for a day trip anytime!
